Special Observances / Services During The Year

Ash Wednesday: We celebrate the beginning of Lent with an Evening Worship service of prayer, meditation, and repentance concluding with the imposition of ashes.

Lenten Mid-Week Bible Studies: We gather for a series of Bible studies each Wednesday evening during the season of Lent.

Palm Sunday: We gather in the church narthex prior to the Morning Worship service for a reading of Scripture pertaining to Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, and we enter the sanctuary in a procession of Palms.

Maundy Thursday: We observe this special day with an evening pot-luck Agape Feast of bread, fruit and cheese, followed by Holy Communion.

Easter Sunday: It is the highlight of the church year.  The sanctuary chancel is decorated with Easter lilies, and we worship in great joy the Resurrection of Our Lord.

Thanksgiving Vesper Service: This special service is offered the Sunday evening before Thanksgiving.

Candlelight / Communion Service: This special service is offered on the Sunday evening before Christmas Eve.  The dating of this special service is arranged so that families may be free to gather on Christmas Eve in their homes, if they so choose.

A Service of Lessons and Carols: This service is celebrated on a Sunday morning during Christmastide.

The Office of Evening Prayer: These gatherings are celebrated on occasional Wednesday evenings throughout the church year.

Holy Communion: We celebrate Holy Communion during Morning Worship on specially scheduled Sundays throughout the church year.

In addition to these special worship/study events, we also enjoy a monthly pot-luck luncheon following Morning Worship, a monthly Fellowship Breakfast   prepared by our Session, and occasional other social gatherings, such as chili suppers  and picnics.
